I am associate senior lecturer in media and communication studies, after gaining my doctoral degree in 2016. Since then I have been working in teaching, research and administration. I'm interested in the intersection of the serious and the silly. Currently I approach this through the lens of cultural citizenship, especially in relation to satire, humour and popular culture audiences. I'm currently working on a project funded by the Wahlgrenska Foundation, on public service satire audiences.
My doctoral thesis Political comedy engagement: genre work, political identity and cultural citizenship was awarded the prize of best PhD dissertation in media and communication studies in 2017 (published in Sweden, during 2015 and 2016). In 2022, it was published in a reworked and translated Swedish language version, by publisher Studentlitteratur, with the title Political laughter (Det politiska skrattet in Swedish).
