What courses are on offer?

Our programme offers you the chance to study general theoretical courses and more specialist courses so you can understand and critically engage with media and communication studies.

Media and Diversity (15 credits)

Autumn 2019, Second-year students

During the third semester you have 30 elective credits. It is, for instance, possible to go on exchange through Lund university to one of our partner universities abroad.

Or maybe you want to put all your theoretical knowledge at work? In that case, you can apply for our Internship Course.

Second-year students are also recommended to choose the abovementioned theory courses and are guaranteed a place on those courses.


Spring 2020, First-year students

First half of the semester
Media and Communication Methodology
(15 credits)
is a general course covering the broad issues of researching society and culture through the study of the media, using case studies from books and articles that have made an impact in media and communication studies.

Second half of the semester

Digital Media Research (SIMM34) 7,5 credits and after that other options in Theory of Science and Methodology courses (7.5 credits) run by the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Spring 2020, Second-year students

Thesis supervision and writing (30 credits) on a topic of your choice, led by programme leaders and supervisors who are assigned to you for one to one advice and supervision during your thesis.
